Los Angeles Vacation Rental: about the stay

Your Holiday Home Los Angeles Space

This Los Angeles vacation rental guest suite is a second house situated at the back of our property in the Venice-Mar Vista area of West Los Angeles. The rental shares one wall with a room we use, but is soundproof and private.

The living room has a vaulted ceiling with a ceiling fan, a smart TV, and a comfortable sofa bed. The adjacent kitchen is fully equipped with almost anything you need to enjoy a nice meal al fresco on your patio, or along the kitchen bar counter that seats 4.

There are two small rooms for sleeping upstairs. One is a loft space that overlooks the living room with a half wall, and one room is fully enclosed. These rooms have vaulted ceilings with the shortest point of the ceiling at the doorways, which measures just under 6 feet. If you are taller than 5’11 be prepared to duck a bit upon entry:-)

The bathroom is downstairs off the living room and has a shower, bathtub, sink, and toilet.

Outside Your Holiday Home Los Angeles

The many windows give a feeling of spaciousness, without sacrificing privacy. The garden has a wooden fence and a smaller gate that separates the front and back house gardens. There are two nonallergic dogs who live in the front house and could be in the adjacent yard.

Our garden is a natural habitat for LA so there may be critters, birds, insects, squirrels, and opossums. At one point we had raccoons and a skunk, but thankfully I think they moved on:-) The neighbor’s cat, Lizzy likes to visit our back garden. Please do not feed her, or let her in the house because this is an allergy-free rental. For these reasons, please do not leave for the day, leaving the french doors or laundry closet door open!

We have beach towels, umbrellas as well as boogie boards, rackets, etc, so please feel free to ask for anything you would need, as we may have it! This Los Angeles holiday home is one of the best you can find.

“You really get to experience an indoor/outdoor life typical of Los Angeles at this holiday home”

What is your guest access like?

Guests have access to the rental, back garden, all-in-one washer/dryer, drying rack, and entry. This unit has a Yale smart lock for entry to the unit that is code/time specific for each guest. The main gate to the property also has a digital entry code. You will receive an email from me prior to your trip on how to access the unit with your codes for entry.

What is it like around the property?

When you are here, surrounded by vegetation, it is very peaceful, so you may feel there is nobody around, however, there are neighbors and with all the windows open, you may hear them/us and they may hear you. Keep that in mind when choosing the volume of the TV, music, going behind the house to have a private conversation, etc.

How quiet is is?

Because sound rises, you will hear us if we are using our deck and if you have your doors and windows open. However, the rental has double-pane windows that will block out noise when closed. I will notify you if we plan on having any larger gatherings in our yard, which is very very seldom.

Is this property really eco friendly?

This space was designed by a professional eco architect who considered window placement, tree canopy, etc for energy efficiency. Most of the year, the windows are all that's needed to keep the space cool and comfortable. The space also has a mini-split heat/air conditioning system in the main living area. Rarely does this not suffice, however, the enclosed upstairs room is at the farthest access point. For those rare extreme weather days, I also have a free-standing, heater, fan and a portable air conditioning tower for that room. Please ask after check in, if needed.

What are the important amenities?

Free street parking, self check-in, private patio and garden views, separate building entrance. Outdoor furniture, dining area, BBQ grill. A/C and heat, washer/drye.r

What else do I need to know?

Street cleaning days are Weds (across the street) and Thursday (house side of the street), from 10 AM to Noon. Park across the street the evening prior if you will not be leaving before 10am. The street has free parking and is generally plentiful, so parking is usually not a problem. If for some reason finding parking on the street is challenging, please reach out to me as I may be able to find a solution. I’ve rarely had this be an issue.
